This is me trying to update. Makes it hard that I don't have internet at my house yet, but I'm working on it. I get online pretty much every Sunday when I come to visit my mother and father. Sunday being my only guaranteed day off work. I'm currently trying to get all caught up on facebook (which I don't really care about anymore), and pinterest. I miss tumblr, but it's just too time consuming for a 2-3hour one day visit. Soon I will have you back my dear tumblr, soon.
So yeah, we (Don and I) finally moved back to Burlington from Ft. Madsion. Got us a house. I got me a new car, which I will be paying on for the next 6 years. Feels like I sold my soul to get it. but it's dependable and reliable so far. Work is work, nothing really to report there, other than I may get hired on soon. I bidded for a job, but didn't get it because my last name starts with an S and the dude who did get it, his last name starts with a D....same evaluation score and everything. Goddamn alphabet. I've been reading a lot too. I've got almost 70 books read this year alone. I'm hoping to break 85. And with the reading, I've been good about not buying books, instead I've been getting them from the library.
This house of ours needs a lot of work. sometimes I worry that it won't get done because Don's a procrastinator and I can't do handy-woman fix ups as of now. I'm trying to learn. . .but it's like a whole different language that I don't understand completely.
The Bedroom needs repainted and the carpet fixed. It needs two new windows and some kind of better closet organization.
The upstairs hallway needs it walls completely redone, the floor as well.
The library is supposed to get built in bookshelves, the ceiling needs replaced because it's starting to crack, and the walls need painted or wallpapered. Plus there's a window in there that has been broken for years that has to be replaced.
The bathroom. . .wowow. The area under the toilet needs completely redone, I'm talking the floor supports, the subfloor and the floor. then the door needs redone, and the walls need deep cleaned and painted. I'm gonna have to sand out the window frame to get the window to move properly.
The kids room is mostly okay, just a coat of paint, personal touches and a closet.
The stairs need replaced, but I'll settle for recut and re-carpeted.
We're planning on tearing the wall off the side of the bottom half of the stairs to make it more open from the stairs to the dining room.
The dining room needs refloored, receilinged, and repainted.
The living room needs floor coverings and repainted walls.
Front porch needs. . . i don't even know, it's actually not that bad, just, plain.
Kitchen needs completely overhauled. there's not subflooring, the whole room is starting to sag off the back of the house, the cabinets are deteriorating and the layout is horrible. for gods sake, the fridge is on the back porch.
The backporch I want to make into a mudroom/laundry room. The walls need finished and the floor needs some kind of covering because it's just cement.
So much work to be done and I didn't even start on basement plans. Jeesh.
I'm just, overwhelmed a lot.
But I'm getting better at taking care of my house. I gotta go home and finish my chores. Dishes, mopping, sweeping, dusting, general pickup and put away. And then all will be well for the weekend and I can jam out while playing my sims for the rest of the night. weut. :]
